Political actors in the GLMP
The GLMP includes a broad range of political actors participating in local elections and local political competition. These include local branches of national political parties, independent local lists, and other political groups.
The current corpus covers 316 political actors.
Who is included?
Political actors represented in the corpus include:
- national political parties and their local branches
- independent local lists
- local political groups and electoral associations
- other political actors for which relevant programmes are available
The GLMP preserves the political actor information associated with the original source material. It does not assign substantive ideological labels or predefined political classifications.
Party and group names
Political actors are represented using structured metadata that allows programmes to be linked consistently across municipalities and election years.
Local organisations may use different names or abbreviations in different municipalities. The GLMP records these actors as they are represented in the underlying source material while providing standardised metadata where possible.
Political actors and analysis
GLMP does not provide policy coding or political scores for parties or local lists. Researchers can use the original programme texts and the accompanying metadata to conduct their own analyses of political competition, party programmes, local political agendas, and political change.
