Election years in the GLMP
The GLMP brings together local election programmes from different election years in order to facilitate comparisons across time.
The current corpus contains election-year observations from 1989 to 2024.
The distribution of documents across election years reflects the availability of local election programmes in the municipalities and political actors covered by the project.
Election-year coverage
The current release includes programmes from the following election years:
1989, 1993, 1994, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2024.
The corpus therefore does not represent every German municipality or every local election. It is a systematically documented collection of programmes available for the municipalities and political actors included in the current GLMP release.
Basic programmes
In addition to election-year documents, the corpus contains 13 basic programmes that are not assigned to a particular election year.
These documents are therefore not treated as election-year observations.
Comparing election years
Election year is available as structured metadata and can be used as a filter in the Browse & Download tool. Researchers can combine election-year information with municipality, political actor, population, document type, and programme scope.
